The first in OSAT to be certified by the Recycled Claim Standard

2024-07-01

ChipMOS is committed to promoting a circular economy and using Material Flow Cost Analysis (MFCA) to create the recycling value of negative products. In 2024, we are making further breakthrough to achieve upstream circular economy opportunities, that co-working with downstream suppliers to extract highly purified SiO2 from silica sludge waste, and have successfully achieved the goals of “substituting virgin rubber and plastic materials with recycled materials” and “regenerating and recycling resources,” and have manufactured calcium silicate sheets, Epoxy building materials, and safety shoes for reuse in the factory, thereby reducing the use of raw materials and decreasing carbon emissions.

ChipMOS is the first company in the packaging and testing industry to promote Transaction Certificate (TC), and has been certified by the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS). From the recycling stage to the final seller's closing of the business-to-business transaction, all the products have been verified to ensure that they are made from at least 5% recycled materials. ChipMOS plans to promote and share this successful model to the upstream and downstream value chain, hoping to encourage the industry to increase the use of recycled materials, to enhance company competitiveness, and to achieve the sustainable action of carbon and plastic reduction.

In addition, ChipMOS is currently working with downstream suppliers to continually evaluate the use of recycled materials to replace plastics in packaging materials, and is also actively involved in experiments related to clean shoes and electrostatic slippers for use in clean rooms, with environmental protection as the core demand to demonstrate the sustainability of the products, and to create a zero-waste goal to reduce the impact on the environment, achieving a win-win situation for both the economy and the environment.
