2023 Earth Day x ChipMOS environmental sustainability serial events

ChipMOS remains focusing on global climate change issues and has been taking actively environmental actions. Each year, ChipMOS engages in various activities such as the annual “Earth Day” on April 22. In addition, ChipMOS has implemented energy-saving policies and organized a series of activities from February to April. These activities include company-wide participation in “Earth Hour”, "Climate Change Junior High and Elementary School Drawing Contest", “Let’s Celebrate Children’s Day Together” and “DIY Activity: Polar Bear Felt Cup Coasters” in Hsinchu Fab, and “Beach Cleaning and Plastic Reduction for a Greener Earth” in Tainan Fab. By engaging employees in these activities, ChipMOS strives to foster a sense of global citizenship and encourages everyone to incorporate environmental protection into daily life.
“Earth Hour - lights off for an hour for the Earth,” is a global energy-saving activity initiated by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF); ChipMOS has supported the event for 3 consecutive years, to turn off the unnecessary power for an hour on March 25, 2023. We hold the plant-wide promotion and post on our Facebook fan page to call the joint participation of all employees and all stakeholders. In 2023, ChipMOS expands its efforts further by inviting 4 additional suppliers to join in the initiatives. By involving our suppliers, we aim to increase our influence and extend the reach of our sustainability efforts through eliciting concrete actions from them.
Hsinchu Fab has organized several events including the “Let’s Celebrate Children’s Day Together” held on Children’s Day and the eve of Earth Day. By collaborating with Huayuan Elementary School, Wufeng Elementary School and Taoshan Elementary Schools in Wufeng Township of Hsinchu County, ChipMOS adopted 171 gifts for Children's Day and used plastic-free packaging ways. In addition, ChipMOS volunteers led the children learning about eco-labels and solar-powered cars DIY activities. We hoped to build up the concept of environmental friendliness at an early age and to make Children's Day a special experience for the children.
On April 29th, the Tainan Fab hold "Beach Cleaning and Plastic Reduction for a Greener Earth", in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Bureau of Tainan City Government, organized a beach cleaning event at the Anping Sunset Platform. The event gathered 150 employees and their family members, who fearlessly braved the intense sun, rolled up their sleeves, and sweated as they diligently collected litter, driftwood, and discarded fishing gear along the coastline, total over 130 kilograms of waste. ChipMOS is continuously participating in the adoption of the Anping Sunset Platform coastline, taking action to raise environmental awareness among everyone and working together to protect and contribute to the cleanliness of the beautiful coastline.
