ChipMOS supports the plans by the Tainan City Government, and joins the “Net-Zero Coaching Group”

2022-06-02

To support the “World Environment Day” on June 5, ChipMOS participated the press conference held by the Tainan City Government, “Net-Zero for Taiwan by 2050, with Tainan Together,” on June 1. The Mayor, Huang, Wei-Che released the net-zero roadmap of Tainan City for the net-zero by 2050, and explained that in the next 30 years, Tainan City will focus on the four major aspects, namely energy transformation, low-carbon green transportation, enhancement of both household and commercial energy efficiency, and circular environment with the green life, to implement the carbon reduction for low carbon sustainability.

ChipMOS actively participates in calls from the Tainan City Government, and has formed the “Net-Zero Coaching Group” with the experts of industries, academies and governmental agencies from TSMC, UMC, Taipower, Kun Shan University, Energy Center of National Cheng Kung University, Far East University, and Southern Taiwan Science Park Bureau, and took the initiative to provide the corporate carbon reduction strategies, forming the alternative industrially collaborated “carbon-reducing circular pattern.”

ChipMOS has been continuously monitoring the global climate changes and the water safety related issues; to enhance the corporate adaptive resilience, the Company takes the net-zero by 2050 as the long-term target, to expand three major strategic pillars:

1. Prioritize inventory and implement substantial energy, water, and renewable energy measures.

2. Pay close attention to global warming issues, and adjust the reduction path based on the CDP questionnaire.

3. Assess the possibility of purchasing and developing other green energy sources.

Facing the extreme climate disasters, we actively seek decarbonization strategies, continue to incorporate climate change into corporate governance, improve the supervision mechanism of executive management, and drive all employees to work together for moving towards the transformation to low-carbon operations.。
